ASTERO'S COFFEE

ORIGIN

Ethiopia is the genetic origin of all coffee. The Guggi region is located in the plateaus of southwestern Ethiopia. Here our wild coffee has been growing in the depths of the Ethiopian rainforest for thousands of years.

The highland regions of southwest Ethiopia are known worldwide for their first-class coffees. However, we’re not just talking about very good coffee here, we’re talking about the mother of wild rainforest coffee. My coffee is 100% Arabica, organic washed and organic, natural and is grown and picked by hand without the use of pesticides. It is of the highest quality and meets the criteria for the EU organic seal.

PROCESSING

The coffee cherries are sorted by hand after harvest. The best cherries are used to make “excellence coffee” that has no defects. The remaining Arabicas are divided into “grades” based on the number of defective beans in 300 grams: Grade 1 may contain up to 5 beans with quality defects, Grade 2 up to 10 beans.

With high-quality organic washed coffees, the coffee beans are taken out of the coffee cherries immediately after harvest, processed wet and gently dried in the sun. The fermentation process begins. This makes the aroma in the beans more intense. With high-quality organic unwashed natural coffees, the coffee beans are dried in the sun immediately after harvest. Only then is the coffee peeled.

PACKAGING & SHIPPING

After drying, the coffee is transported from Ethiopia to the coast and shipped to Hamburg. From there, trucks take him to Cologne. It is stored in Cologne and freshly roasted after an order has been received. The customer can pick up the coffee from the roastery themselves or have it delivered the following day – as green coffee to roast themselves, or as roasted coffee (ground or not ground). Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring that the coffee is roasted as gently as possible. This ensures that the coffee develops its full aroma and that the taste is preserved. Coffee that is drunk as espresso is roasted longer than other coffee.

German Roasting Quality Improvement Program

A collaborative initiative with roasting experts in Germany to guarantee healthier, cleaner, and more flavorful coffee. This project helps us maintain stable quality and expand our international market.

Coffee Export & Global Expansion Project

Astero’s Coffee is growing beyond Ethiopia. Our export project focuses on premium packaging, international standards, and global availability for our coffee lovers.
